Anup – the Pillar of Sanatani Music
Most people know Anup Jalota ji from his soulful music and bhajans, and his immense talent of creating the most beautiful tunes to sing praises of the Almighty. They may also know him for responsibly mentoring young artists and the irreplaceable contributions he has made to the music industry. But I know him for the amazingly wise man that he is. My memories of Anup Ji go back to the time when I used to be a kid and immersing myself in his music. Little did I know that I would have the honour of knowing him personally. Now that I have interacted with him up close, I’d like to share a few words on what we can all learn from him.
Anup Ji’s love for Indian culture and contribution to music
Anybody who has ever listened to Anup Jalota songs knows the magic of his music, but I believe no one truly holds them in their memories the way I do. I remember when my grandfather, who was my life’s mentor, used to play harmonium and sing his songs to me. This is one of my fondest memories of him, and I will always hold it close to my heart. Preserving one’s culture and celebrating it with pride is one of the greatest lessons my grandfather has taught me, and no person can claim that they are rooted in their culture like Anup ji. In an era where our music industry remains influenced by Western culture, he has proudly worn the Indian and the Sanatani culture on his chest like a badge of honour. This is one of the many reasons why I have always admired him.
When I met Anup Jalota Ji

I had recently interacted with Anup ji after my grandfather’s passing when he came to pay his respects. When I met him, I was immediately struck by his pleasant aura and the deep wisdom he has acquired in his illustrious career in the music industry. His words reflected his love for our Sanatani culture and his passion towards highlighting and spreading its family values not only in India, but around the world. His dedication towards this cause is visible even today, as he continues to perform in shows and spread the beauty of the Sanatani culture, proving that age is indeed just a number! I have always believed that everybody teaches you something; and what Anup Jalota has taught be is to always value your roots and be passionate towards what you have dedicated your life to. Learning from people like him and building these values have helped me become what I am today.

Anup Ji’s life is an example for everyone to follow, as it teaches us to find our purpose in life and put all our heart and soul towards this purpose. It has been a privilege indeed to have known Anup Jalota ji. May he keep inspiring us all with his beautiful music and joyous personality!
